  1. Go through online listing process located on our homepage 'Owners: List Your Horse!'. This listing process has over 100 fill in the blank and check box questions so give yourself about 20 minutes to fill it out. Have in your hands any show records, bloodlines, registration information and health history documents that are relevant because you'll need this information to complete the listing. At any point during the listing, you can save your horse's profile and continue later. There is no commission contract to sign, for fees relating to our video service see 'Services for Sellers'.
  2. If you have videos and photos of your horse that you are satisfied with skip to point 3. If you don't have videos and pictures of your horse contact HOC and book an appointment and we'll come out and put together a marketing package for you (video/photo pricing details). We will create professional video and photographs showing your horse in multiple ways such as under saddle, free moving, in hand, lunging, free jumping etc. Providing buyers with high quality photographs and videos is essential in selling a horse online. Not only do the photos and video have to be clear and bright but they also have to be taken in such a manner that shows the horse at his best. Getting professional marketing materials is a small cost and more than pays for itself in the end. Not only will your marketing materials be taken with top of the line equipment but they will be created by an experienced professional that can guide you through the process.
  3. Pictures can be uploaded at the end of the listing process or by going into your account afterwards. Click on your horsebox to see the horses you have listed. Click on the appropriate horse and go to the upload picture page. The system will automatically resize the picture so it fits in your ad. You can delete pictures here and ad new ones, you can also change the order of pictures. Up to 15 pictures per profile can be added. Pictures can also be sent with the video but will be subjected to a $5 scanning fee/picture which will appear on your bill. If Sellers want pictures back they must put in a postage paid, pre-addressed envelope in with the post package.
  4. Submit video via E-mail or post mail to HOC. Video formats accepted are VHS tape, CD, DVD, or mini DV cassettes. If Sellers want VHS tapes, CDs/DVDs or video cassettes back they must put in a postage paid, pre-addressed envelope in with the post package or they won't be returned. If at any point a seller wants a video deleted and a new one added they must just make a request. VHS and mini DVs are subject to a digitalization fee. Please be aware of how many minutes worth of video you are sending us as your video service cost depends on the length of your video. If you want us to edit it you must give clear instructions and let us know how long the end result should be. Any editing is subject to our Multimedia Service rates.
  5. Once we have received your video, the next step is to process it before uploading the full video to your horse's profile. If you submit a VHS tape or a mini DV it will be subjected to a digitalization fee as we have to convert it to a digital file in real time. There is no digitalization fee for DVDs or CDs submitted. Once the video has been copied to our system, it needs to be compressed and optimized. Whenever video is submitted it will be subject to a compression fee. Once compressed, we will upload the video and link it to your horses profile
  6. Once your profile is ready to activate, sellers have the option of getting their profile optimized for a small fee. It is very important that your horses profile appear professional and accurate while at the same time describing your horse in the most appealing way. An HOC representative will analyse and optimise your horse listing to make sure your horse profile truly delivers the message you intend.
  7. When the seller is satisfied with their horses profile and their invoice for the first two months of service has been paid HOC will activate the horse listing. Invoices notices will be emailed and invoice itself will be found in a seller's Member Account. Invoices can be paid online by credit card, automated payments will follow until seller requests horse to be removed from the website.
  8. The same week sellers are invited to submit in our newsletter that will go out alerting the thousands of subscribers that a new horse has been added with a direct link to the profile where the seller's name and contact information will be posted. Buyers will contact sellers directly. Seller also has the opportunity to view our Want Ads page.
  9. The HOC website is a base for your advertising. Listing elsewhere and linking free Ads to HOC will increase your horse's exposure. Buyers no longer have to ask for videos from you because the videos are right there waiting to be downloaded. If they do want offline copies we will send them at no charge to you. HOC will continue to host your horses profile for as long as you require. If you are unsure about closing a sale without professional assistance HOC also offers Sales Consulting.
  10. Other services we provide include Horse Evaluation, Webpage Service and Business Consulting.
